Er schlich sich sehr leise und langsam heran, dann schnappte er die Decken und rief: „Buh!“, als er Matthias am Bauch kitzelte. Matthias quietschte vor Vergnügen und kletterte aus dem Bett.
Mutti hörte die Geräusche und kam ins Zimmer. Sie fragte, was sie machten. Vati sagte: „Wir spielen Versteck! Möchtest du mitspielen?“

Matthias rief: „Du bist dran! Du bist dran! Bitte zähl bis zehn. Vati und ich werden uns verstecken. OK?“

Now Daddy hunted everywhere! Under his desk, behind the cupboard with Mommy's scrapbooks, in the bathroom, under Matthew's bed. And - what was that? A little noise in the bed? Daddy looked quickly to see what was going on. Then he noticed that the covers were moving.
He sneaked very quietly and slowly, then he grabbed the covers and shouted, "Boo!" as he tickled Matthew's tummy. Matthew shrieked with delight and scrambled off the bed.
Mommy heard the noises and came into the room. She asked what they were doing. Daddy said, "We're playing hide-and-seek! Do you want to join in?"
Mommy answered, "Yes! I'd love to play with you. Whose turn is it?"
Matthew shouted, "It's your turn! It's your turn! Please count to ten. Daddy and I will hide. Ok?"
Mommy said that was ok and began to count, "One - two - three - four -"
This time Daddy and Matthew hid together in the basement under the stairs. "five - six - seven -" They were very quiet. "eight - nine - ten!" Suddenly Daddy tickled Matthew's feet and Matthew began to laugh. Mommy came downstairs right away and exclaimed, "Aha! I found both of you! Whose turn is it now? Matthew's or Daddy's?"
Matthew shouted it was his turn, and Mommy and Daddy ran off. "One - two - three - four - five - six - seven - eight - nine - TEN! Ready or not, here I come!"
Matthew decided to creep like a cat. He crept on his hands and feet until he came to the kitchen. There he straightened up and trotted to the pantry. He opened the door and peered inside. No Mommy. No Daddy.
He went to the bathroom. Hmmm! No Daddy. No Mommy. Next, he went into the basement. Nobody was there. Matthew scratched his head. Where could they be? How about the computer room? He sneaked there very carefully and opened the door. There they were!
Matthew giggled and hugged them. "Good! Now it's my turn again!" Matthew counted while Daddy and Mommy crept away. "One - two - three - "
