Time Tips for English Learners
|
By Charmont Sodi 5 Minutes Short sessions are better to learn new vocabulary. You can use the time while riding the bus, eating breakfast, waiting for class to begin, waiting in the supermarket, and even walking to school, to review new words. 10 Minutes Studying a little every day is better than studying once for a long period. Studying ten minutes each day throughout the week will make it easy for you to remember what you've learned. 15 Minutes Review within the first 15 minutes after class. 30 Minutes Preview by reading out aloud. On the days when you have more time to study, read an English passage aloud rather than silently. This way you can practice your speaking and find those words you haven't quite mastered yet. When it is time to speak in class, you will be able to do so easily and smoothly. 1 Hour If you find a whole hour to study, focus on different tasks: vocabulary now, grammar next, and so forth. Get an overview during the first half hour: spend 10 minutes reviewing dialog, 10 minutes learning new vocabulary, 10 minutes learning new grammar - so you'll at least have looked at it all. Approximately 80% of your study time should be spent in recitation or practice.
