Self Hypnosis Memory Enhancement: Focus, Retention, Recall
We are bombarded by 60,000 stimuli per second. That occurs 60 seconds out of every minute, for our entire lives. We are all subjected to 'information overload.' It is tricky to remember all the data we must remember. But it is possible. Read on!

By Alan B. Densky

Think about this for a minute. As you sit and read this document, bits and pieces of information are entering your brain through your sense of sight. However, you are also absorbing various sounds, feeling physical feelings like the force of your chair touching your body, the sensation of your clothing, and the air temperature and movement on your skin. You are also receiving sensations through your nose in the form of smells. You are also receiving data via the mixture of tastes on your lips.

Think about the emotional thoughts that you are presently feeling. You are also processing that data. We exist in an information intensive world. Thanks to the Internet, almost anything that a person might want to know is only a few clicks of the mouse away.

Recently I read an item that said that, even in a serene and peaceful atmosphere, we are bombarded by 60,000 stimuli per second. That occurs 60 seconds out of every minute, 60 minutes out of every hour. It goes on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, week in and week out, for our entire lives.

That is a big part of the dilemma. We are all subjected to 'information overload.' It makes it very tricky to remember all the data we want to or must remember.

All too often, as we are reading, we find that our eyes have been traversing the information on the page, while our conscious mind has been off somewhere else on a tangent. When we get to the bottom of the page, we become conscious of the fact that our eyes have seen the words, but we have no conscious remembrance of what we have just read. That is because our mind has been somewhere else.

Today it is an everyday occurrence to hear even young people say things like, 'I'm having a senior moment.' No matter what your age, and whether you are a student, part of the labor force, or a retired senior, you know what I am talking about. In our chaotic world, it is often difficult to focus your attention.

Which of the following scenarios describes you?

• Your mind begins to meander as you read, and then all of a sudden you realize that you do not possess the slightest idea of what you just read.

• When you are in a social situation and you are introduced to new contacts, you forget their names as quickly as you hear them.

• You remember that you have a job to do in another room; however, as soon as you start towards the other room, you totally forget what that chore is.

• You are able to stay focused and take in new information. However, when you take an examination, 'Test Anxiety' overcomes you and triggers a mental block; you are not able to remember the answers to the questions on the test that you in fact know.

The biggest cause of a person's inability to focus attention is anxiety. The biggest cause of a mental block to recall is also anxiety. Therefore, it stands to reason that the more relaxed a person is, the better he or she will be able to focus concentration, absorb information, and then be able to recall it at a later date.

Today, hypnosis and memory enhancement has become a popular topic. That is partly because hypnotherapy is an excellent instrument for causing a relaxed state of being. In fact, the very fundamental nature of hypnosis is relaxation. As the mind becomes quiet, the ability to stay focused increases. Similarly, a tranquil mind increases the aptitude to retain information, and recall it when it is needed.

Hypnosis memory enhancement is a fantastic modality for eliminating test anxiety. Several hypnotic techniques can be used to program a person with the positive expectancy of relaxation, self-assurance, and success while taking exams.

Anyone can take a course on how to apply self-hypnosis quickly and inexpensively in the privacy of their own home by purchasing hypnosis CD's. It is easy to find more information on hypnosis to improve memory and recall in the Hypnosis Article Repository located on my website.
