A Look at Modern German Society and Customs
German people may seem rigid and a little too stern, but this is only because they take their roles seriously. They strive for perfection all the time, and are proud members of society. Read this article for more information about German society.

History has a way of affecting how we perceive the world. Although Germans took the initial lead in World War II, you will no longer see the trace of this violent past in their society. They may seem rigid and a little too stern, but this is only because they take their roles seriously. They strive for perfection all the time, and are proud members of society.

Germans have high regard for order and privacy. Do not take things personally when they warn you or advise you about your manners. For them, this is nothing more than a social responsibility. Therefore, do not chew gum win public or rest your feet on furniture.

On the other hand, while other cultures do appreciate praise, compliments may sometimes embarrass Germans. They are raised not to be too self-absorbed, but to be hardworking and thrifty in managing life. Germans males are perfect gentlemen while ladies observe proper etiquette. Traditionally, men open doors for women and also lead the path so they can serve, respect, and protect them at all costs.

You never have to worry about punctuality - for Germans are always on time. However if you think they are too uptight, wait until the next holiday celebration and you will see how much they love to party!

Talking about German celebrations and parties, Germans invented the Oktoberfest as a Munich Beer Festival. It all started in 1810, when a ceremonious wedding was celebrated with culinary spectacles and racing horses. After the festivities, the people were delighted with an exquisite culinary piece, also known as beer.

The festival soon paved the way for an annual event, which gained popularity around the world. Although the actual drinking spree is known as Oktoberfest, it happens during the month of September. What can I say! The festival is a great beer party with roller coaster rides, amusements, circus performances, live bands, and parades! No wonder there seems to be a growing number of participants every year for 16 straight days of fun and excitement.

German people are considered healthier than American people because of three things: drunkenness instead of endless smoking, fresh vegetables rather than pills, and more advanced mental disease treatment. Many bustling German public places are openly smoke-free, but usually display lively German drinking sessions. In spite of heavy beer drinking, Germans still manage to be healthy. They enthusiastically follow the customary three meals a day instead of food supplements; they also consume vegetables rather than pills.

Many women around the world complain about their weight, and that is why they work out. However, fitness centers are not an ordinary part of this interesting German lifestyle. Germans prefer eating rather than exercising. This is, perhaps, why Germans are a happy and vibrant people. Aside from the continuous booming of the German economy, its people live a healthy lifestyle. Germany has never stopped producing the best and most famous people across the globe.
